A new way to help local households build financial resilience

Our Food Club provides practical support and access to essentials, helping families manage everyday challenges while staying connected and supported in their community.

For a small contribution, affordable food items are available up to six times a year, for eligible households.

Families who have reached the limit of foodbank use

Individuals receiving Universal Credit but whose children do not qualify for free school meals, and who are struggling financially

Students facing financial hardship. Proof of student status and evidence of financial difficulty must be provided

Pensioners experiencing financial difficulty meeting essential food needs

Asylum Seekers and Refugees with limited or no financial support who are experiencing hardship, including those whose Aspen cards have been blocked

Individuals that are homeless or have no fixed abode struggling financially to meet essential food needs

Families experiencing in-work poverty

The Food Club puts these contributions towards buying more food.

Food Club members also attend at least two of our six free Essential Skills workshops, to help them get back on their feet.

Our advisor will be on hand to help families build choice, dignity and independence.

How it works.

    • An adult-only household contributes £5, and choose up to 15 items.
    • Households with one or more children under 18 contribute £10, and choose up to 30 items.
    • Members can select up to two of each product, and use the Food Club up to six times a year.
    • Members make their selections and payment during their referral process.
    • Members also select their preferred collection point in advance. Our current collection points are High Town Sports Centre and The Dallow Centre.
    • Members must select at least two of our free Essential Skills workshops, though we encourage them to attend all six.
These take place in local schools, and we plan to start online workshops soon.
Workshops cover managing money, smart shopping, cooking on a budget, growing your own food, staying warm and well through winter, and looking after health and wellbeing.
