Bringing you exciting events, community updates, and ways to get involved.

Thank You for Your Support

Thanks to your incredible generosity, we distributed 1775 food parcels in July, each containing five days’ worth of essential supplies. Families across all 20 wards of Luton received the support they needed.

Although donations increased slightly by 5%, every contribution plays a crucial role in alleviating food poverty in our town. Your kindness continues to make a real difference. Thank you.

HAF Project: Holiday Hunger

We were proud to have delivered over 1,500 food parcels to HAF camps in just two weeks, providing families with special recipe cards to prepare and enjoy a meal together.

Our Community Engagement Worker, Yasmin, enjoyed visiting the camps and sharing information about the food bank’s services.

Both projects were delivered in partnership with Active Luton’s Project Energise. We’d also like to remind the community that we are still supporting families with food parcels during this time.

Luton Foodbank Schools Calendar

We have released our Schools Calendar for 2025/26! It’s packed with opportunities for pupils to get involved in supporting our community. Check out key dates like Harvest, the Reverse Advent Calendar, and the Colour Run to see how your school can participate. Download School Calendar

Harvest Campaign

Our annual Harvest campaign is approaching, starting on 22nd September and running until 17th October. We’re calling on local schools, churches, and businesses to get involved. https://lutonfoodbank.org.uk/harvest-heroes

Food Club

We’re delighted to provide an update on our new Food Club initiative, which launched on 23rd July. The first few weeks have been a great success, highlighting the positive impact it’s having on local families. The Food Club currently supports 15 clients, with referrals now coming in from:

  • Luton Foodbank
  • Schools
  • Luton Borough Council

We are also working closely with Citizens Advice and Women’s Aid, who are actively identifying and referring suitable clients.

One client, Clare, who works two jobs, shared her experience: ‘I started using the Food Club to help me get back on my feet. My money wasn’t making ends meet. I used my £5 to get 15 items of food and then had a benefit check and found out I’m entitled to financial support. I also benefited from the smart shopping workshop. I’ve been spending money on branded items for years and the non-branded taste the same, if not better.’

Case Study: Finding Stability After Uncertainty

When a mother of two, with a newborn just three months old, transitioned from an international student visa to refugee status, she faced overwhelming challenges. With her refugee status granted but unable to work due to childcare responsibilities, and her husband’s asylum case still pending, leaving him also unable to work, the family had no stable income and struggled to meet their basic needs.

We carried out a needs assessment and provided emergency food support, whilst also signposting her to Migrant Help for vital advice. In the weeks that followed, we supported the family with fuel assistance, shopping vouchers, and hygiene essentials. We also ensured information was shared in her first language, Bengali, and linked her with Luton Borough Council for housing support, helping her navigate a system she was unfamiliar with.

Through consistent follow-up and joined-up support, the client accessed a range of help including food, financial assistance, housing guidance, baby products, and language-accessible advice. Importantly, her husband has since secured a two-year visa waiver, easing some of the family’s uncertainty.

Reflecting on her journey, she said: ‘I am very grateful for your support. Without your help, I wouldn’t have been able to get all this important support. As an international student, I wouldn’t have known where to go to seek advice.’

Her story is a clear example of how tailored, compassionate, and consistent support can empower families navigating the difficult transition from student status to refugee life, helping them find stability in the face of hardship.

Pakistan and Kashmir Cultural Event

The Pakistan Kashmir Culture Festival returned to Stockwood Park, Luton, on Saturday, August 23rd, for its second consecutive year, drawing thousands of people to a vibrant celebration of culture.

We were proud to be the charity partner for this years event, a fantastic occasion full of culture and tradition, including a fashion show, horse-riding display, qawwali and much more.

Organised by the Next Generation Scheme, the event was a tremendous success, offering a richer and more impressive showcase of Pakistani and Kashmiri traditions through art, music, fashion and food that was overwhelmingly loved by the community. Press Release

London Marathon

In 2026, two dedicated runners will be taking on the London Marathon in support of Luton Foodbank. This incredible challenge is not only a personal milestone for them, but also a vital way to raise funds to help us support individuals and families facing food poverty.

We’d love for you to follow their journey, click the link to learn more about their challenge and if you can, please consider donating generously to support our work.

Auriga provides emergency fuel vouchers and financial support, easing pressure on households during difficult times. We also address barriers such as Universal Credit shortfalls, benefit issues, language challenges, and wellbeing concerns, ensuring our services remain accessible and supportive.
