How to get food

Contact us by emailing advisors@lutonfoodbank.org.uk or calling 01582 725838 (Mon-Fri, 8.30am-4pm) Our advisors can assess your situation and arrange food parcels where appropriate. They can also signpost you to other organisations for advice on debt, housing, etc, but you can also find this sort of information by clicking here. If you email or leave a message, we'll try to get back to you within 3 to 5 days. If we can't get through at the first attempt, we'll try again later.

If you prefer not to contact us directly, you can choose one of the referral methods below. If you'd rather not use Luton Foodbank at all, you can see a list of alternative providers by clicking here.

If you have children under 5, click here.
If you have children under 5, contact your local Children’s Centre. You can find children's centres in Luton Council's Family Directory.
If you have school-aged children, click here.
Your school's family worker may be able to help. Your children may even qualify for free school meals. During the current Cornavirus crisis, children eligible for free school meals will benefit from a national voucher scheme allowing them to continue to access meals whilst they stay at home. Your children's school should contact you about this if you are eligible.
Otherwise, click here.
Please contact only one of the following...

Citizens Advice helpline: Freephone 0808 278 7847 (Mon-Fri, 9.30am-3.30pm). Citizens Advice also offers online chat, but it's a national service so may not be the best choice for you.

Distribution Centres

If you qualify for food parcels, your referrer will ask you to select the most convenient location to collect your food. Your visit is treated as confidential, and food bags do not have any foodbank markings etc. It's important that you try to attend the distribution session you chose, to help us ensure we have the correct amount at each session.

Important changes due to Coronavirus COVID-19

YOU MUST NOT try to collect food yourself if you are supposed to be self isolating.
  • Please arrange to have a friend or relative collect for you (with a permission letter from you).
  • If this is impossible, please ask your referrer about alternative arrangements.

YOU MUST strictly observe hygiene and social-distancing rules.
  • Only ONE person per voucher may attend distribution. (Bring suitcase/trolley if no transport)
  • Do NOT touch our staff or approach within 2 metres (about the length of a bed). You should not touch or approach anybody.
  • Catch coughs and sneezes in a tissue or with your inner elbow–NOT your hands.
  • Wash your hands often and well with soap and hot water.

Food parcels will be given out from our van instead of indoors.
  • The van will be parked at the usual distribution buildings.
  • Please be patient while waiting for your turn to be served.

Our volunteers are there to help you and many others.
Please do not put them at unnecessary risk.
